Government Support SPW works with government authorities to develop its programmes in line with official policy and the full support of all the relevant authorities. SPW is registered an an NGO under an agreement with the Ministry of Education and Culture (MOEC). Through this agreement, SPW is permitted to develop and implement volunteer-led programmes in the Southern Highlands. MOEC curricula for Primary (Science) and Secondary Schools (Biology and Civics), together with other MOEC guidelines, form the basis for SPW's school teaching programme. The Minister for Education and Culture, Mh. Mungai, and the Commissioner for Education have both supported SPW events and festivals. The Tanzanian Commission for HIV/AIDS (TACAIDS) is fully supportive of all SPW Tanzania's activities. The Executive Chairman, Major General (Rtd) Lupogo, has regularly acclaimed SPW for implementing best practice HIV/AIDS interventions in Tanzania. He and over half the TACAIDS commissioners have attended SPW events and festivals. All SPW programmes are designed in line with the National HIV/AIDS Policy. At the Ministry of Health (MOH), SPW works particularly with the National School Health Programme (NSHP). NSHP guidelines have played a crucial role in guiding programme development. SPW also has important working relations with the Vice President's Office, the Ministry of Women, Children and Community Development (MWCCD), and the National Environment Management Council (NEMC). Crucially, we also receive support from regional, district and school and community level authorities. This grassroots support is intrinsic to the smooth running and success of our programmes. |
